A Trixie is 4 bets from 3 selections (3 doubles, 1 trebles). Void/non-runner legs settle at 1.00, shrinking any line they're in. Each-way doubles the stake and pays a place accumulator at each leg's terms.
How a Trixie works
A Trixie is four bets on three selections: the three doubles and the treble. There are no singles, so at least two of your three have to win before anything returns. That makes it cheaper than a Patent (four units against seven) and more aggressive — the payoff leans on the multiplication in the doubles and treble.
Worked example: a £1 Trixie costs £4. Three winners at 2/1, 3/1 and 5/1 pay £12 + £18 + £24 across the doubles and £72 on the treble, for £126. If only two land — say the 2/1 and 3/1, with the third beaten — you collect the single double they form, £12, and still show £8 profit. One winner returns nothing.

FAQ
Why did my one winner return nothing?
A Trixie has no singles. Two winners is the minimum for a return — if you want cover from a single winner, use a Patent.
Is a Trixie each-way just double the stake?
Yes — a £1 each-way Trixie costs £8, running a place Trixie alongside the win one at each selection's place terms.
What happens to a non-runner?
That leg settles at 1.00, so the Trixie collapses onto the other two — effectively a double on the pair.
Since a Trixie lives or dies on two of three winning, the prices matter: build the legs from the best available odds and read the EV guide before committing three selections to one slip.
